Aschewolke bringt Ruhe in Deutschlands Einflugschneisen
Die große isländische Aschewolke war wohl das Ereignis, welches die letzten Woche die meisten Mensch beunruhigt und um ihren Schlaf gebracht hat. Doch an den Rändern großer Städte gibt es ganze Landstriche, in denen man auch jede sonstige Nacht aus dem Schlaf geweckt wird. Die Menschen in diesen Gebieten konnten dank des Ausbruchs des Eyjafjallajökull seit langem für ein paar Nächte wieder ruhig schlafen.
Diesen Sonntag habe ich meine Eltern im Norden von Leipzig in der Einflugschneise des Leipzig/Halle-International-Airports besucht und konnte den sonnigen Frühling auf der Wiese liegend genießen. Statt Boing und Airbus kreisten Turmfalken am Himmel und statt donnernden Antonow Maschinen konnte ich einen Specht pochen hören.
Viele in den Transitbereichen festsitzende Fluggäste freuen sich, dass sich die Luft wieder aufklärt und sie ihre Reise fortsetzen können. Leider sind damit auch die ruhigen Nächte im Norden Leipzigs gezählt, aber ich hoffe das einige Menschen gemerkt haben, wie schön es ohne Nachtflug sein kann.
iSight in Karmic with MacOS X 10.6
Today I got my iSight of the MacBook Pro to show me pictures of my self. The normal way by installing isight-firmware-tools and extracting the firmware from MacOS doesn't work. But the ubunutforums.org helps. So you have to download the firmware-file from a dubious site and load it with
sudo ift-extract -a <path to AppleUSBVideoSupport>
I think this is just a copy of the AppleUSBVideoSupport-file from an older MacOS version. After this you have to shutdown and start your mac again, a reboot does not work.
Intel GMA 500 with Kernel 2.6.32
For all those with problems compiling the Poulsbo - psb-kernel-source-4.41.1 for debian/ubuntu apply the patches in http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/updates/11/SRPMS/psb-kmod-4.41.1-10.fc11.src.rpm and try the patch at
